Parachuting Trainer Killed After Plummeting Lacking Parachute in Music City

Rescue Scene Emergency Effort
Local Fire Department reported it used multiple ladders and a pulley system to save the student

The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the fatality of a skydiving instructor after he became separated from his student during a dive in Nashville, Tennessee.

Authorities report instructor the instructor "appears to have dropped from the sky without a parachute" during the jump on the weekend.

Fuller, 35 years old, appeared to have detached from his student and a tandem rig, which links the two during a jump and includes the parachute.

A police helicopter found the instructor's remains in a forested zone hours later. The Nashville Fire Department used several ladders to reach the middle-aged student who survived the descent after being stuck on a tree for hours with the backup chute.

Officials stated several additional jumps, which took place near a local airport, were carried out without incident prior to the fatal fall. The plane from which they jumped also touched down without issue.

It is unclear how Mr Fuller, an experienced skydiver, became separated from the safety equipment.

A individual who helped fire crews in the rescue told a media outlet the client who officials saved said "it was his first jump, and it was going to be his final one".

The instructor had previously posted about his passion for teaching others how to skydive.

"Teaching people to parachute has consistently been in my view the most satisfying role at the drop zone," Mr Fuller wrote in an social media update in the summer.

"Watching them figure it out and begin maneuvering their bodies is consistently a touching experience. Sometimes though, it can get a little hectic up there when you let someone go for their initial attempt."

That same month he shared photos of the wreckage a skydiving plane he was on saying the aircraft's motor had failed after take off. Every individual aboard survived.
